20 April 2016

The project plans to build 868 subsidized housing units with energy efficient technologies, including insulated building panels. As of March, this year, the first batch of 38 units were completed by the developer, Garden Cities. The insulated panels are being manufactured locally by BenexCape (a joint venture between Garden Cities and Benex Technologies Australia).
This project aims to highlight the effectiveness of green building technologies in addressing the social housing backlog in the country and the province. At an estimated R300m, the project is earmarked for completion by the end of 2017.
