GreenCape, on behalf of the South African Renewable Energy Masterplan (SAREM), has developed a Renewable Energy Value Chain Manufacturers Database to support the implementation of SAREM. This project entailed mapping, identifying, and promoting South Africa’s manufacturing capabilities within the renewable energy sector.
By enhancing the visibility of the local component supply chain, this database serves as a vital resource for current and potential investors, project developers, and industry stakeholders. It is specifically designed to support local content sourcing and sector growth.
This database is hosted on the GreenCape website as an interim measure.

The database maps out local manufacturers across three key sectors: Solar PV, Wind, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
- Detailed Supplier Data: The list includes information such as years in the market, BEE ratings, and contact details.
- Comprehensive Component Mapping: The database covers a wide range of products, including Solar PV cells, Wind tower internals, and BESS cooling systems.
- Publicly Sourced: This initiative aims to strengthen and showcase local manufacturing within South Africa’s renewable energy industry.
