GreenCape hosts event on a Groundwater Implementation Plan for the City of Cape Town

29 June 2018

On Thursday 28 June 2018, GreenCape hosted an event on the findings of a study commissioned by the The Danish Environmental Protection Agency. The project titled, “Augmenting bulk water supply with private borehole water: a feasibility study”, identified clusters of private boreholes on high yielding groundwater areas close to the distribution grid within Cape Town. The project also included a review of the legislation and how the City can lawfully gain access to groundwater and groundwater infrastructure on private land. The process for identification of boreholes, to implementation of the boreholes in the bulk water supply were described in generic roadmaps.
