In achieving energy and water security and climate resilience for the province, DEA&DP seeks to highlight the importance of resource resilience for business competitiveness, job creation and economic growth. To support this, DEA&DP aims to strengthen green economy ecosystem businesses by facilitating the uptake of green technologies (with a focus on energy and water) aimed at improving resource resilience, expanding markets enabling behaviour change, lowering costs, enabling market access, building climate change adaptive capacity, and contributing to climate change mitigation.

To advance this, DEA&DP will host a series of information help desks in districts across the Western Cape for businesses in the province. These help desks aim to support businesses implementing renewable energy or water-efficient technologies. Green economy sector desk experts will provide direct, one-on-one support to businesses on energy-related and water-related matters at these help desks.

The help desks will provide key information (technical, financial and regulatory) on energy and water-related matters. Each roadshow will give access to the following:

  1.  One-on-one consultations with green economy sector desk experts;
  2. resources that will assist businesses with investment decisions on building energy and water resilience; and
  3. networking opportunities with other businesses and ecosystem players.

The helpdesks and information provided by green economy sector desk experts will cover the following:

  • A snapshot overview of the renewable energy and water landscapes in South Africa;
  • step-by-step guides for improving energy and/or water resilience for businesses;
  • finance and incentive options; and
  • case study examples of energy and water resilience initiatives in action.

These sessions are open to all businesses and SMMEs and are as follows:
