Here are a few highlights of what the GreenCape team will be up to in October. 

First Thursdays; Cape Town: 3 October 2019 

GreenCape, in partnership with the Friedrich Naumann Foundation and the Western Cape Government, is hosting a “Green future landscape of the Western Cape” exhibition during Premier Winde’s First Thursdays event on 3 October 2019. Premier Alan Winde hosts monthly First Thursdays events to make the Western Cape government and its Ministers more accessible to members of the public. On 3 October, more than 30 greentech companies will be exhibiting alongside this opportunity to engage with the Premier and his cabinet. These companies and projects will be showcasing their innovative green technologies, ideas, services and products. Green Building Convention; Cape Town: 2 – 4 October

WISP will be presenting in Track 4 – on enhancing sustainability outcomes at the Green Building Convention at the Century City Convention Centre. The aim of the conference is to take the next step towards creating cities that are cleaner, healthier, happier places to live, work, learn and play. C40 World Mayor’s Summit; Copenhagen: 9 – 12 October 

GreenCape is participating in the C40 World Mayor’s Summit in Copenhagen. The Summit in Copenhagen will focus on building a global coalition of leading cities, businesses and citizens that rallies around the radical and ambitious climate action our planet needs. The Summit will showcase examples of how cities are already delivering on their strong commitments and accelerate the bold climate solutions needed for a sustainable, healthier, resilient and inclusive future. The drought support work done by GreenCape in partnership with the City of Cape Town and the WC Government will be showcased at the Summit’s Hall of Inspiration. See more: https://c40summit2019.org/ 

Windaba; Cape Town: 8 & 9 October 2019

GreenCape will be at Windaba 2019, at the CTICC on 8 & 9 October 2019. We are exhibiting alongside Invest Cape Town and the Atlantis Special Economic Zone for Green Technologies, to showcase the strong partnerships that have been built to support investment promotion into the green economy.

Africa Oil & Power Week; Cape Town: 9 – 11 October 

GreenCape will be represented on two panels at the upcoming Africa Oil and Power week. The first is a panel on Renewables: The key to lighting Africa, and the second is a panel that focus on financing solutions for the future of energy in Africa.

12th Conference on Asphalt Pavements for Southern Africa (CAPSA 2019); Cape Town: 13 – 16 October 

GreenCape’s Waste team will be co-presenting on the topic presenting on “Advancing sustainable practice – finding a common voice and approach to sustainability for the South African roads sector”. Read more: https://www.capsa2019.co.za/

Resilience 

We are also hosting two Resilience Events in October, with the City of Cape Town. On 1 October there is a Water-focused event (by invitation), and on 3 October we are hosting a Waste related (by invitation) event: “Talking Trash”, with WMRIG.
